New Directors Needed

Summary: We have two Director positions that need to be filled immediately. A third Director position will need to be filled at the end of the year. Please let us know if you're available to serve the neighborhood by filling out the form below.

Background: The Silverhawk Bylaws require the Board to be comprised of five Directors. One Director stepped down before the September Board meeting. Though my baby was due November 21, I had planned to stay until the end of year. Those plans (and many other of my plans) were completely derailed when baby arrived six weeks early. Not only have I learned that preemie babies have special needs since they are still developing skills and strengths that are normally refined in utero, but we're also still scrambling to complete the Before Baby Arrives To Do list, such as finishing off the nursery. Considering that I'm lucky on most days if I find time to shower, I owe it to the rest of the Board and the entire neighborhood to step aside and make room for someone else who has the time to serve.

Furthermore, Mandy Lunsford announced at the beginning of the year that after five years of service this would be her last year on the Board. IMO she has more than earned a reprieve. If every homeowner in the neighborhood volunteered as much time as Mandy has, Silverhawk would be the crown jewel of Edmond.

Details: Board members are required to abide by the Silverhawk CCRs and ByLaws, attend regularly scheduled Board meetings, and check email on a frequent basis. Though we are able to and do contract out much of the neighborhood management, the Board is responsible for all of the activities that require an HOA member's input, such as acting as a point of contact for general HOA members, hiring contractors to do maintenance work on the common grounds, clubhouse, and pool, enforcing rules and covenants, and pursuing improvement projects.

If you care about the value of your home, if you see areas where improvements can be made in the neighborhood, if you have a couple of hours a week to give to the neighborhood, please consider volunteering on the Board of Directors.
